According to Stamp Critchley from The Athletic, Napoli at present gives off an impression of being the top decision for Manchester Joined midfielder Scott McTominay assuming that he chooses to withdraw from Old Trafford.
Scott McTominay, 27, has been the subject of transfer speculation throughout the summer, particularly with Fulham making multiple offers for the Scotland international.Â
Recently, however, Fulham has shifted their focus to Burnley’s Sander Berge, who was also rumored to be on United's radar earlier in the transfer period.Â
"Fulham was the Premier League club most closely associated with him, but that situation has been quite fluid," Critchley shared on the BBC's Scottish Football Podcast.Â
"They’ve shown interest, pulled back, and then returned to the table. Their interest was rekindled in the last few days, but just last night, it seems they are on the verge of signing Sander Berge from Burnley.Â
"This leaves McTominay looking at other Premier League options. Everton has shown consistent interest, but financial constraints may be a factor. Newcastle has also been mentioned in the past, but they appear to have a solid midfield setup right now."
If a transfer within the Premier League doesn’t happen, Critchley suggests that Serie A could be McTominay's next destination.Â
"Looking abroad, Napoli seems to be the most promising option at this time," he noted.Â
"Their sporting director, Giovanni Manna, was recently in England discussing McTominay. After their 3-0 loss to Verona in their opening match, and with Antonio Conte now at the helm, there’s considerable pressure to finalize transfers.Â
"I believe Scott McTominay would prefer to remain in England, as he has established his career here and is quite well-known. He’s coming off what many consider his best individual season.Â
"However, if he needs to explore new opportunities where he could play more regularly and have a greater impact, Napoli is emerging as a strong possibility."
